When reporting a problem
A few details make it much easier to find the problem.
- Your device model and iOS or Android version.
- The app version, shown on the Settings screen.
- Which act and node type the run was in (combat, elite, boss, rest, shop, event, reward).
- Whether you were in a normal run or Challenge Mode, and which challenge rules were on.
- If the issue happened in a fight, tell us the fight goal and which pieces were in your squad.
- What you thought would happen, and what happened instead. Screenshots help.
What to try first
- Close and reopen the app to reload the run state. Rogue Tactics auto-saves between encounters.
- If a run feels stuck, check Settings for a reset option. Resetting the active run keeps your King level and gear.
- Keep the app updated so saved runs and gear stay current.
- If the app won't launch past the loading screen, fully quit it from the App Switcher and try once more before reinstalling.
Common questions
How does combat work?
Each unit attacks in a chess pattern: rook lines, bishop diagonals, knight L-jumps, queen short lines, pawn one-step forward. Damage is shown before you move. The numbers you see are the numbers you'll get. There are no critical hits, no misses, and no hidden dice rolls.
What happens when a squad member dies?
That unit is gone for the rest of the run. You can still finish with what's left of your squad. Your King level and gear are not affected. Squad members refill at the start of the next run.
How does pawn promotion work in a run?
Promotion is earned through specific encounter outcomes and reward choices during a run. A promoted pawn becomes a different class for the rest of that run. Promotion does not carry between runs.
What's the difference between a relic and equipment?
Relics last for one run. You find or buy them during a run, they shape that run, and they are gone when the run ends. Gear stays between runs. You can equip up to three pieces, and you earn more gear as you play.
What is Challenge Mode?
An optional harder mode with rules like Iron King (the King takes more risk), Scarce Rest (fewer rest stops), and Elite Pressure (tougher elites). Use it when you want a sharper run.
Where is my progress stored?
On your device only. There is no cloud save. If you delete the app, the active run, run history, gear, and King level are removed with it.
Will there be Game Center, multiplayer, or cloud save?
Not in the first release. Rogue Tactics ships as a single-player tactics roguelite. We may add online features in a later version of the series.
Which devices are supported?
Rogue Tactics is coming soon to iOS and Android. Final device requirements will be listed on the store pages when the app is live.
Is the game free?
Pricing will be listed on the store pages when the app is live. The planned first release does not include in-app purchases, ads, or subscriptions.
